Jennifer Lopez opened up about the life-altering impact of her divorce from Ben Affleck.

In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, shared via the outlet’s YouTube account on Sunday, September 28, Lopez, 56, spoke about Affleck, 53, after the outlet’s reporter Lee Cowan noted that Affleck served as a producer on Lopez’s upcoming film Kiss of the Spider Woman.

“The movie wouldn’t have been made if it wasn’t for him and Artists Equity. I will always give him that credit,” Lopez said of Affleck and Matt Damon’s artist-led production company before turning to how she juggled filming alongside Affleck with a less-than-perfect marriage.

“It was hard not to think about stuff but it was, like, the best and the worst of times. Every moment on set … I was so happy. And then… back home, it was not great,” Lopez explained. “But you get through it and, you know, honestly, I have to say, it was the best thing that ever happened to me because it changed me. It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow … become more self aware. I’m a different person now than I was last year.”

Lopez, who married Affleck in 2022, filed to divorce the actor in August 2024, with the “Let’s Get Loud” singer listing April 26, 2024, as the pair’s official separation. The divorce was finalized in January.

Cowan, 60, noted during the new interview that Lopez seemed to be “in a good place … happy and confident,” despite a tumultuous 18 months — which Lopez agreed with.

“This summer was probably the best summer I’ve ever had. I’m able to enjoy things more,” she detailed. “I realized that joy is in living … and really embracing life and everything that it brings to you. The hard times are the lessons and you have to understand that. I feel like, if that [the divorce] hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t understand that.”

Us Weekly revealed exclusive details into Lopez and Affleck’s marriage in May 2024, with an insider sharing that the pair were “having issues” at the time. “They are on two completely different pages most of the time,” the source told Us.

After the divorce was finalized, Affleck spoke out about the former relationship during a candid interview with GQ magazine. “There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly … the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,” he told the outlet in the interview, which was published in March. “There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue [about our divorce]. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no, ‘This is what happened.’”

Affleck noted, “It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”

TikTok influencers Abby and Matt Howard shared the tragic news with followers that they recently endured a pregnancy loss.

“It is with very heavy hearts that we share about the loss of our baby girl born far too soon,” the couple announced in a joint statement via Instagram on Saturday, September 27.

Abby, 26, was 17 weeks into their latest pregnancy, having announced in August that they were expecting their third child. (The influencers are also parents to Griffin, 3, and August, 2.)

“At a routine pregnancy appointment, our doctor could not find a heartbeat. Shortly after they sent us in for an ultrasound where the technician said words we will never forget, ‘I am so sorry I do not have good news,’ ” they explained. “That is when we got the gender reveal we never hoped for, and also the news that our baby had a genetic condition that took her life around 17 weeks’ gestation.”

Reflecting on their traumatic experience, the content creators said that discovering they’d lost a child “felt unimaginable.”

“The grief is absolutely devastating,” they wrote. “But we feel so much gratitude for the time that we did get to have with her. And we still have hope. Hope has continued to show up for us in so many ways.”

Abby and Matt, 27, explained that they would now “grieve and continue to think of ways to honor her life offline.”

“Thoughts and prayers are more than welcome,” their statement concluded. “Thank you everyone for celebrating this precious life with us for the past 17 weeks.”

Other parenting influencers and TikTok stars offered their support in the Instagram comments, along with many fans expressing their condolences.

“Sending you all so much love,” TikTok star Avery Woods replied, with Devin Cordle offering similar sentiments: “I’m so so sorry, Abby. We are praying and sending y’all virtual hugs. Love you so much.”

Influencer Haylee Hess added: “Sending so much love and prayers❤️‍🩹 love you and your precious family so much.”

Abby and Matt have more than 8 million followers via YouTube and 5.3 million on TikTok. They launched their joint YouTube channel as newlyweds in 2019 and viewers have watched their family grow over the past six years.

In June, the couple opened up about their approach to filming family videos during an appearance on the “Jinger and Jeremy” podcast. Matt and Abby explained that they try to limit use of devices outside of working hours to make sure their whole family remains active.

“When we’re not working, we’re not working. Like, that’s it,” Abby said. “It’s really hard, especially for the way Matt’s brain operates. It’s really hard to, like, dabble in anything. It’s been really, really refreshing, honestly, because it felt like a lot for a while — social media can feel all consuming if you let it be and it felt good to reclaim some boundaries.”

If it weren’t for the surprise emergence of Daniel Day-Lewis from retirement for this year’s Anemone, Leonardo DiCapriocould have been reasonably cited as the best working actor. DiCaprio has pursued interesting roles for well over three decades and developed successful working relationships with nearly every great filmmaker. One Battle After Anotheris a massive film for DiCaprio, as it marks his long-anticipated first collaboration with Paul Thomas Anderson. However, One Battle After Another is also a reminder of DiCaprio’s comedic talents, as he has a much better sense of humor than he has been given credit for.

There exists some fantastical worlds that are so meticulously built—and so emotionally loaded—that a single watch can only scratch the surface of an ocean-deep fantasy TV series. Quite a few shows hidden in the vast genre not only reward rewatches with loads of hidden clues and deeper character understanding, but also with the excitement of knowing where the enchanting fantasy will guide its viewers. Moments of romance, incredible costumes, and iconic lines are sometimes so good that a rewatch is simply inevitable—and adds to the magic of the series.
