Mithra Mandali – A Missed Opportunity for a Fun Ride

Ai generated article, credit to orginal website, October 17, 2025

Mithra Mandali is a 2025 Telugu-language comedy film written and directed by Vijayendar S. The film has Priyadarshi & Niharika NM playing the lead roles, while Rag Mayur, Vishnu Oi, Prasad Behara, Satya, Vennela Kishore, VTV Ganesh, Jeevan, Vamce, Satya Prakash, Anudeep KV & others are seen in important supporting roles. The music is composed by RR Dhruvan while the film is produced by Kalyan Manthina, Bhanu Pratapa & Dr. Vijender Reddy Teegala under Sapta Aswa Media Works & Vyra Entertainments banners. The film is being presented by Bunny Vas under BV Works.
Story:
In the village of Jangilipatnam, elections are approaching, and two local leaders, Narayana (VTV Ganesh) and Freedom Raju (Satya Prakash), are competing for the MLA ticket. Meanwhile, four carefree friends—Chaitanya (Priyadarshi), Satwik (Vishnu Oi), Abhi (Ragh Mayur), and Rajeev (Prasad Behara)—spend their days idly. Satwik and Abhi both fall for a girl named Swetcha (Niharika NM) and even join her English coaching class to impress her, but soon they discover that she’s Narayana’s daughter and get scared.
Things take a turn when Narayana goes to the police, saying his daughter has gone missing. Fearing damage to his reputation and his MLA chances, he secretly asks the SI (Vennela Kishore) to file it as a kidnapping case. What follows is a series of twists—did Swetcha run away or get kidnapped, who does she really love, and who finally wins the MLA ticket? The answers unfold on screen.
What about on-screen performances?
Priyadarshi is just about fine in a few scenes and tries too hard to be funny in a few others. Though he is good in a couple of fun scenes here & there, this is not the kind of script or film one expects from this versatile actor. He surely needed to do a Naveen Polishetty from ‘Jathiratnalu’ but couldn’t pull it off majorly coz of the writing.
Niharika NM, known for her social media reels, makes a decent debut as the female lead. She has a terrific comedy timing with her reels, but she could only bring half of it onto the big screens. Nevertheless, she is passable with her part and has a good screen presence too.
Rag Mayur, Vishnu Oi, and Prasad Behara get plenty of screen time, yet their performances fail to leave an impact. Their over-the-top antics add little charm to this dialogue-driven screwball comedy. Though some situations show promise, weak writing and uneven execution stop the film from reaching its full potential.
Comedian Satya, who plays an important character in the film, is the only biggest plus of the film. Though his character is not needed in the plot, the way he comes in at regular intervals and cracks a few jokes in his typical style is watchable.
Vennela Kishore also tries hard to bring in a few laughs, but even his character doesn’t give him the scope to shine.
VTV Ganesh, Satya Prakash & Jeevan’s tracks look very irritating and are completely outdated.
Vamce is funny in a couple of scenes, while Anudeep KV is wasted in an impactless cameo.
What about off-screen talents?
The story by Vijayendar S had all the needed elements to be a brainless entertainer that didn’t need any logic with its plot. But the way it is told and the way the comedy is written is very poorly done. The plot runs entirely as a satirical comedy and spoof rather than an enjoyable comedy that has very little comedy.
The screenplay is weak. In fact, there is no proper structure to the film, and it will not appeal to everyone. Even for the people who do not look for logic, might not enjoy the film coz of the cringeworthy writing and forced comedy. The second half is a total mess and is completely outdated & boring.
Director Vijayendar S does a pretty ordinary job with his presentation.  Though he wanted to make a screwball comedy that didn’t need much brains and wanted more comedy, the film could not deliver on what it intended to give the audience. Also, the way he extracted performances from his lead cast is not up to the mark, too.
The dialogues are very poorly written. They are just randomly written and do not have any effect on the proceedings, nor do they generate the needed laughter.
The cinematography and visuals by Siddharth SJ are decent.
The background score and songs by RR Dhruvan work well as big plus points for the film. Even the music has been used cleverly, with spoof classic hit movie dialogues and songs have been remixed to create a fresh, funny feel. The score is impressive.
The editing by Peekay is not up to the mark. Trimming a few lagging scenes could have made it more tighter & far better.
The production values by Sapta Aswa Media Works & Vyra Entertainments are adequate.
What’s Hot?
* Satya’s Comedy
* Niharika NM’s Performance
* Good Background Score
What’s Not?

Weak Story & Loose Screenplay
Forced Humor in Several Scenes
Loud Performances from Some Actors
Draggy Second Half
Unnecessary Cameos
Patchy Editing

Verdict:
Mithra Mandali starts off with a promising setup and an energetic cast, but it doesn’t quite deliver the fun it aims for. The humor works in bits and pieces, but the uneven writing and dragged-out narration make it hard to stay engaged. Still, Satya’s timing, Niharika’s charm, and RR Dhruvan’s music bring some relief here and there. Overall, Mithra Mandali ends up as a partly entertaining but largely uneven comedy. It could have been much better with a tighter script and smoother execution.
