During his USA tour, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh met Ohmium Chief Science and Technology Officer Chokkalingam Karuppiah in San Francisco, urging the company to establish an electrolyzer manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh.
Lokesh explained that AP’s industrial zones, including areas like Krishnapatnam, offer strong potential for setting up advanced green hydrogen infrastructure. He requested Ohmium to consider co-developing pilot green hydrogen plants powered by solar and wind energy in the state. He also invited the company to explore investments in supply-chain industries, transportation solutions, and ammonia production linked to green hydrogen.
Ohmium CTO Chokkalingam informed the Minister that the company currently operates the world’s largest gigawatt-scale electrolyzer factory in Bengaluru. He said Ohmium provides solutions across North America, Europe, India and the Middle East, serving industrial, energy and utility sectors. He added that their teams in India and the US are focused on innovations in Proton-Exchange Membrane (PEM) technology, efficiency improvements, and integrated green hydrogen systems.
Chokkalingam assured that Ohmium will examine the proposals put forward by the Andhra Pradesh government and explore possibilities for collaboration.
