Andhra Pradesh Sports Minister Mandipalli Ram Prasad Reddy on Friday launched the jerseys of the Elite Cricket League (ECL) Season 2, marking the official build-up to the much-awaited second edition of the tournament. The league, organised by the Chamala Foundation, aims to promote sports culture and positive values among youth across Andhra Pradesh and has already been drawing strong interest from across the state.
Speaking at the jersey launch event, the Sports Minister praised the Chamala Foundation for combining sports with meaningful social responsibility. He lauded the foundation’s efforts in creating awareness against drug abuse among youth, supporting families of farmers who died by suicide, and extending assistance to the families of soldiers from the Telugu states who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He said initiatives like the Elite Cricket League reflect a forward-thinking vision where sports act as a powerful tool for social change.
The Minister expressed confidence that Elite Cricket League Season 2, scheduled to be held on February 21 and 22, 2026, in Visakhapatnam, will be organised on international standards and will add fresh momentum to the sports ecosystem of Andhra Pradesh. He also appreciated the leadership of ECL Chairman Uday Chandar Reddy for linking the league’s growth with service to society.
Organisers highlighted that in previous editions, prize money from the league was dedicated to the families of martyrs, underlining ECL’s strong commitment to national and social causes. This approach, they said, has helped the league gain respect beyond the sporting arena.
Seven teams will compete in Elite Cricket League Season 2: Tollywood Thunders, Bullithera Rangers, Andhra Political Kings, Viral Cheetahs, Police Lines, Media Masters, and Siri Corporate Missiles. The tournament is expected to feature competitive matches and vibrant participation from players representing different walks of life.
The jersey launch event witnessed the presence of several prominent personalities, young sportspersons, and enthusiastic supporters, making it a memorable and high-energy occasion. Organisers reiterated that the core objective of the Elite Cricket League is to guide youth towards a disciplined and positive lifestyle through sports, while continuing social service initiatives under the Chamala Foundation banner.
