Davos (Switzerland): On Day 3 of the Andhra Pradesh delegation’s Davos visit, Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh held discussions with Zerodha Founder Nikhil Kamath, inviting the fintech major to establish a Technology Development Centre in the state.
During the meeting, Lokesh highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s growing digital ecosystem and encouraged Zerodha to set up a tech hub in Visakhapatnam. He suggested focusing on platform engineering, backend systems, trading algorithms, data analytics, and fintech research and development to strengthen India’s financial technology landscape.
The Minister also proposed a collaboration with the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub to promote fintech startups and strengthen the state’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. He said such an initiative would help nurture young innovators and create employment opportunities in advanced technology sectors.
In a key proposal, Lokesh urged Zerodha to partner with the Andhra Pradesh government to design and implement a comprehensive financial literacy programme. The initiative would be the first of its kind in India, covering students from school to college level through multiple delivery channels, aimed at improving financial awareness and responsible investing habits.
Responding to the proposal, Zerodha Founder Nikhil Kamath said the company would study the government’s suggestions and explore possible areas of collaboration. He appreciated the state’s vision for promoting fintech innovation and building a future-ready workforce.
The meeting underlined Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to position itself as a leading destination for technology-driven investments and innovation, with a strong focus on fintech, digital skills, and startup growth.
