Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat Raj Minister Pawan Kalyan on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed Kotappakonda–Kothapalem road, fulfilling a long-pending promise made to devotees of the famous Trikoteswara Swamy temple. Built at a cost of ₹3.9 crore under Panchayat Raj funds, the 8-kilometre stretch has been opened to ease travel for pilgrims and local residents.
The road was inaugurated near the Shiva Stupa at the foothills of Kotappakonda, following Pawan Kalyan’s temple visit. After unveiling the foundation plaque, he walked along the newly laid road to personally inspect the quality of work. The project was taken up after a request from local MLA Dr. Chadalavada Aravind Babu, with a commitment to complete it before the Shivaratri festival. The road is expected to benefit nearly 1.5 lakh devotees who visit the temple during peak festive days.
The new road will also significantly improve connectivity for residents of Kothapalem and nearby villages, including students of the Gonapudi government school who faced daily travel difficulties. During the inauguration, students met Pawan Kalyan and thanked him for providing better road access. They also submitted a request for additional infrastructure, including a playground for their school.
As part of the visit, Pawan Kalyan reviewed the proposed Giripradakshina pathway layout around the hill shrine. Forest officials briefed him on the required clearances and route planning through forest land. With increasing footfall at Kotappakonda every year, he directed officials to speed up the planning process and ensure the pathway is completed at the earliest for the convenience of pilgrims.
He later visited the Vanavihari Deer Park located on the ghat road, where he interacted with forest officials and observed the facilities. He personally fed the deer and reviewed the arrangements made for their protection and visitor safety. Officials also explained the variety of birds and plant species present in the area, along with the eco-tourism initiatives being developed around the park. Pawan Kalyan also inspected the park’s internal transport facility and enquired about its maintenance and operations.
The visit drew a large crowd of supporters and local residents, who welcomed him along the route. The inauguration and inspection tour highlighted the government’s focus on improving religious tourism infrastructure while balancing environmental conservation.
