As part of his Davos visit on Day 4, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh held a detailed meeting with Tech Mahindra CEO and MD Mohit Joshi to explore deeper collaboration in technology, skilling, and innovation. The discussions focused on expanding Tech Mahindra’s presence in the state and building a strong ecosystem for startups and emerging technologies.
During the meeting, Minister Lokesh urged Tech Mahindra to accelerate the development of its IT campus in Vijayawada with a workforce capacity of 5,000 to 10,000 employees and to speed up delivery operations in Visakhapatnam. He highlighted the state government’s commitment to creating a strong digital economy and invited the company to play a key role in this transformation.
The minister proposed the establishment of a Tech Mahindra Skilling Campus in Vijayawada or Visakhapatnam focused on future-ready technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud, IoT, Cybersecurity, and Industry 4.0. He also requested the company to partner with the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub to mentor and scale Andhra Pradesh–based startups, providing them with technology support and industry guidance.
Lokesh further suggested setting up a Centre of Excellence at IIT Tirupati focused on smart manufacturing and advanced industrial automation. He also proposed the creation of a Quantum Computing Lab in Amaravati’s upcoming Quantum Valley, in collaboration with Tech Mahindra and Strangeworks, to promote research and innovation in quantum technologies.
Emphasizing the need to build a strong talent pipeline, the minister called for partnerships with Andhra Pradesh universities to provide hands-on training, applied research opportunities, and industry exposure in AI, ML, and quantum technologies.
Responding to the proposals, Tech Mahindra CEO Mohit Joshi said the company already has a strong association with the Andhra Pradesh government and has successfully set up India’s first state-wide Cyber Security Operations Centre (AP-CSOC) in the state. He assured that Tech Mahindra would carefully review the new proposals and explore avenues for deeper collaboration.
The meeting highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s growing focus on advanced technologies, startup growth, and digital skilling, and is seen as another significant step toward positioning the state as a future-ready technology hub in India.
