Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education and IT, Nara Lokesh, on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed PG Boys Hostel building at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Kakinada, as part of a series of development programmes in the city.

The minister reached Kakinada from Rajahmundry airport by road and received a warm welcome from public representatives, university officials, and local leaders. He formally inaugurated the PG Boys Hostel named “Nandanam” and also opened newly laid CC roads inside the JNTU campus. He later unveiled foundation plaques related to the development works.

During his visit, Lokesh toured the university premises and inspected the “Innovation Fair” organised by JNTU-affiliated colleges. Around 20 stalls showcased student innovations. The minister interacted with students and appreciated their creativity and technical skills. Key attractions included a banana-based food product developed by Aditya University students, a “Mobile Banana Extractor” designed by Praghati Engineering College students, and an “Intelligent Energy Management System” created by students of Ramakrishna Raju Engineering College.
The newly inaugurated PG Boys Hostel has been constructed at a cost of ₹10 crore under RUSA and university funds, covering an area of 53,606 square feet with a G+2 structure. In addition, the university has spent ₹21 crore from its own funds for the construction of CC roads and drainage facilities across the campus, significantly improving infrastructure and student amenities.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Lokesh appreciated the efforts of JNTU Kakinada in promoting innovation and improving campus facilities. He stressed the importance of encouraging students to come up with practical and industry-oriented solutions that can contribute to the state’s development.
The event was attended by JNTU Kakinada Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Chekuri Sivarama Krishna Prasad, Principal Dr. N. Mohan Rao, Innovation Head Gopalakrishna, MP Sana Satish, MLAs Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao, Yanamala Divya, Varupula Satyaprabha, Adireddy Vasu, Zonal Coordinator Sujay Krishna Rangarao, TDP Kakinada Parliamentary President Jyothula Naveen Kumar, MLCs Karri Padmasree and P. Rajasekhar, along with several officials, faculty members, and students.
The event highlighted the government’s focus on strengthening higher education infrastructure and encouraging innovation-driven learning across Andhra Pradesh.
