Global cooling solutions major Carrier Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Ltd is set to strengthen its presence in India with a large new manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of ₹1,000 crore. The company has signed a lease to develop a state-of-the-art air-conditioning plant, a move that is expected to create around 3,000 jobs, including 1,000 direct and 2,000 indirect employment opportunities.
According to the company, the project will come up on a 39-acre site and will focus on producing sustainable and energy-efficient cooling solutions, in line with growing demand for greener technologies. The lease agreement was signed by Sundaresan Narayanan, Managing Director of Carrier India, and Ravindra Sannareddy, Managing Director of Sri City, marking a key milestone for the project.
Carrier Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Ltd is part of Carrier Global Corporation, a worldwide leader in climate and energy solutions. The new Sri City facility is expected to play an important role in the company’s long-term growth plans in India and will complement its existing operations in Haryana.
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh welcomed the investment and said the project reflects the state’s “Speed of Doing Business” approach. He noted that Carrier took only eight months from its first visit to the finalisation of land and the project, calling it a strong example of fast-tracked execution. He also said the new plant would help position Andhra Pradesh as a leading hub for air-conditioning manufacturing in India.
The project follows high-level discussions with the Chief Minister and the state leadership and highlights the government’s focus on industrial development, infrastructure readiness, and quick approvals. With construction set to move forward, the Carrier facility in Sri City is expected to give a major boost to local employment and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s role in India’s manufacturing and industrial growth story.
