With expectations rising after its entertaining trailer, Saampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani is all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on the 6th of this month. Directed by Sudheer Sriram, the crime-comedy family thriller marks the coming together of the popular pair Shivaji and Laya once again. The film is presented in association with ETV Win and backed by noted producers Bunny Vasu and Vamsi Nandipati under the Sri Shivaji Productions banner.
In an interaction with the media ahead of the release, director Sudheer Sriram expressed strong confidence in the film’s theatrical appeal. “Saampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani is a perfect film for a theatrical experience,” he said, adding that the movie offers a balanced mix of comedy, crime, suspense, and emotion.
Sharing his background, Sudheer revealed that he hails from Kadapa and that his father worked as a postmaster. Inspired by cinema from a young age, he completed his engineering after watching Happy Days. He entered the film industry in 2015 and worked in the direction department for several projects, including Evaru starring Adivi Sesh. He credited director Venkat Ramji as his mentor and guiding force.
Explaining why he chose Shivaji for the lead role, Sudheer said the actor reminded him of his father when he watched his 1990s films. When he narrated the story, Shivaji immediately agreed not only to act but also to produce the film himself. The script was later presented to the ETV team and received instant approval, which gave the project a strong foundation.
Describing the genre, Sudheer said the film is a crime comedy with dark humor elements, inspired by the style of Nelson Dilipkumar. He referred to films like Kolamaavu Kokila and Doctor as examples of blending suspense with comedy. According to him, the first half of Saampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani is packed with hilarious moments, while the second half shifts into a gripping and thrilling narrative.
The film was initially considered for a direct OTT release on ETV Win. However, following discussions and a suggestion from director Anil Ravipudi, the team decided to release it in theatres. Sudheer admitted that as a debut director, he was eager to see his name on the big screen and is now extremely happy about the theatrical release.
He also clarified that Shivaji’s character in the film is entirely different from his earlier 1990s roles. The actor plays a highly energetic character and even suggested the film’s unique title. While Shivaji actively participated in aspects like songs, including the “Paya” track, he did not alter the script. Sudheer emphasized that the story remains exactly as originally narrated.
Speaking about the film’s structure, the director said every character has been carefully designed and perfectly cast. He revealed that even during shooting, the team often laughed while filming scenes. He assured that the script is tightly written, with no unnecessary scenes, and that every character has a logical purpose in the narrative.
Sudheer concluded by stating that audiences will thoroughly enjoy the entertaining first half and experience suspense and thrills in the second half. With its blend of dark comedy, crime, and emotional moments, Saampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani aims to deliver a complete family entertainer and a memorable big-screen experience for Telugu cinema lovers.
