Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh has once again drawn attention for quickly acting on a request made by a student, leading to the construction of a new road worth ₹18 lakh in Palnadu district.
The development took place after a meritorious student from Oppicherla village in Karam Pudi mandal of Palnadu district achieved an outstanding academic milestone in the Class 10 public examinations last year. Angadi Pavani Chandrika scored 598 marks out of 600 and secured the first rank at the state level, earning widespread appreciation.
During a meeting held to congratulate the top-performing students, Minister Nara Lokesh personally interacted with Pavani Chandrika and appreciated her remarkable achievement. During the interaction, the student shared a concern that had been troubling many students in her village. She explained that the road connecting their village to S. Peta, which students use daily to travel to school, was in a very poor condition. According to her, the situation becomes especially difficult during the rainy season, making it hard for students to commute safely.
Moved by the student’s request, Lokesh responded immediately. Without delay, he reportedly contacted local MLA Julakanti Brahmananda Reddy over the phone and instructed officials to take immediate steps to construct the road.
Following the minister’s directions, the administrative machinery acted quickly. Funds were sanctioned soon after the request was raised, and work on a cement concrete (CC) road project was initiated with an estimated cost of ₹18 lakh.
The road construction is expected to significantly improve connectivity for students and residents of Oppicherla village, particularly those who travel daily for education. Local villagers and parents of students expressed gratitude to Minister Nara Lokesh and MLA Julakanti Brahmananda Reddy for responding promptly to the issue.
Residents said the new road will ease the difficulties faced by school-going children, especially during the monsoon season when the earlier road conditions made travel challenging.
Many villagers praised the swift action taken by the minister, stating that responding immediately to a student’s concern and converting it into a development project reflects responsive governance. The incident has also been widely discussed in local circles, with supporters saying it demonstrates Lokesh’s approach of turning promises into action.
