Director Meher Ramesh has announced the list of donors who contributed to the Telugu Film Directors Trust, highlighting the strong support from members of the Telugu film industry. The announcement was made through his official social media account following the recent swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected panel of the Telugu Film Directors Association.
Serving as Treasurer of the Telugu Film Directors Trust, Meher Ramesh expressed gratitude to several filmmakers, producers and actors who came forward to support the trust’s welfare initiatives. According to him, the donations are playing a crucial role in supporting a health insurance programme that benefits hundreds of members from the Telugu film directors’ community.
The trust has arranged a comprehensive health insurance scheme covering 716 directors and 1,192 dependent family members through The Original Insurance Company. Meher Ramesh described the initiative as a major support system for members of the association who require financial security for medical needs.
He also noted that the trust has spent nearly ₹1.5 crore over the past two years to maintain the health insurance programme. The first major contributions that helped launch the initiative were provided by filmmaker Puri Jagannadh and actor Mahesh Babu, who each donated ₹10 lakh to the trust.
Several prominent personalities from the Telugu film industry later joined the effort by making contributions. Actor Prabhas donated ₹35 lakh, with the initiative facilitated by director Maruthi. Director Sukumar contributed ₹25 lakh, while producer Bunny Vasu donated ₹5 lakh. Producer Manikanta contributed ₹3 lakh and production house UV Creations donated ₹14 lakh.
Producer Rajesh Danda donated ₹5 lakh and actor Kiran Abbavaram also contributed ₹5 lakh to the trust. Production banner Mythri Movie Makers supported the initiative with ₹15 lakh. Directors and producers Anil Ravipudi, Sahu Garapati and Sushmita Konidela together donated ₹15 lakh.
Production house Sithara Entertainments along with producers S. Naga Vamsi and actor Venkatesh Daggubati, with support from director Trivikram Srinivas, contributed ₹12 lakh. Producer Dheeraj Mogilineni donated ₹2 lakh and director Odela Srikanth also contributed ₹2 lakh. Actor Suhas donated ₹1 lakh.
Meher Ramesh also recalled the trust’s relief activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, the trust extended financial support to around 1,000 members, distributing ₹5,000 each, which amounted to a total assistance of ₹50 lakh to support members during difficult times.
The Telugu Film Directors Trust was founded by veteran filmmaker K. Raghavendra Rao and is currently guided by Managing Trustee N. Shankar along with trustees including V. V. Vinayak, Sukumar, Surender Reddy, Boyapati Srinu, Vamshi Paidipally, Harish Shankar, Koratala Siva and Nandini Reddy.
In his message, Meher Ramesh expressed heartfelt gratitude to every donor, trustee and member who contributed to the philanthropic effort. He also acknowledged filmmaker Sai Rajesh and Aditya VN for helping pool funds from members of the film fraternity. The trust aims to continue supporting directors and their families through welfare initiatives and financial security programmes in the future.
