“Koragajja Goes 3D…”: Sudheer Attavar Expands Vision with Costly Upgrade

Pan-India film Koragajja, directed by Sudheer Attavar, has once again postponed its theatrical release, but this delay comes with a significant upgrade that is expected to enhance the film’s scale and global appeal. Announced on the occasion of Ugadi, the makers revealed that the film will now be released in both 2D and 3D formats, bringing a new level of visual experience to audiences.
Unlike most films that are shot using native 3D technology during production, Koragajja is undergoing a post-production 3D conversion, which is considered both expensive and technically demanding. The decision was reportedly influenced by an international distribution company that reviewed the final cut and described the film as “world-class,” appreciating its rich locations, high production standards, and cinematic grandeur. The company strongly recommended a premium 3D conversion, suggesting that it would help the film reach a wider global audience beyond language limitations.
Taking this feedback seriously, producer Trivikram Sapalya has decided to invest further in the project, backing its release in dual formats under Trivikram Cinemas and Success Films. Director Sudheer Attavar has expressed happiness over the development, with nearly 40 skilled technicians currently working on the intricate 3D conversion process to ensure quality output.
In a move to elevate the film’s visual impact, the team has also reshot the climax with an elaborate underwater sequence. The shoot took place at the “Vismaya” studio in Thiruvananthapuram, owned by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. A specially designed underwater set was created for the sequence, with cinematographer Manoj Pillai using four cameras to capture the action in detail.
Actress Shruti has taken on a challenging role in these sequences, performing the underwater stunts herself. This is considered a rare effort in Kannada cinema, reminiscent of the era of legendary actor Dr. Rajkumar. She underwent around 15 days of rigorous training before executing the high-risk scenes. The production ensured strict safety measures, including the presence of scuba divers, medical teams, and emergency support throughout the shoot.
One of the most talked-about moments from the shoot involves Shruti jumping from a height of nearly 30 feet into water using a harness and resurfacing on cue for the camera. She also completed a 22-second underwater shot without oxygen support, highlighting her dedication and commitment to the role.
These ambitious additions have significantly increased the overall budget of the film. According to executive producer Vidyadhar Shetty, an additional ₹12 crore has been invested solely for the underwater climax sequence, reflecting the makers’ determination to deliver a visually stunning cinematic experience.
With its upgraded 3D presentation, high production values, and intense action sequences, Koragajja is now positioned as a technically advanced pan-India film aiming to impress both domestic and international audiences upon its release.
