In a major relief for lakhs of beneficiaries, the Rural Development Trust (RDT), a well-known organization serving the poor in Andhra Pradesh, has overcome recent hurdles related to foreign funding, following intervention by Minister Nara Lokesh. The development comes after restrictions under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) had stalled the inflow of foreign funds, putting several welfare activities at risk.
RDT has been a lifeline for thousands of underprivileged families, providing education, healthcare, livelihood opportunities, and training for decades. From offering quality education to children who cannot afford it, to ensuring medical care for those without resources, the organization has played a key role in transforming rural lives across the Telugu states.
When the issue of halted funds was brought to his attention earlier, Nara Lokesh assured support and promised to resolve the matter. Staying true to his word, he took up the issue with central authorities and worked towards removing the obstacles. His efforts have now resulted in the clearance of restrictions, allowing foreign funds to flow again and ensuring the continuation of RDT’s services.
RDT Director Mancho Ferrer personally met Nara Lokesh at his residence in Undavalli to express gratitude. He stated that this was not just a thank-you from the organization, but a gesture of appreciation from lakhs of people whose lives have been positively impacted by RDT’s work. He described Lokesh’s intervention as a timely and crucial step that safeguarded an institution serving the most vulnerable sections of society.
Responding to the appreciation, Nara Lokesh said that his role in resolving the issue was minimal compared to the decades of selfless service rendered by RDT. He emphasized that organizations like RDT, which bring meaningful change in people’s lives, must be supported and protected at all costs.
The resolution of the issue has brought relief and renewed hope for thousands who depend on RDT’s initiatives. With funding channels restored, the trust is now set to continue its mission of empowering the poor and delivering essential services without interruption.
