The title song of the ambitious international film ‘King Buddha – We Want World Peace’ was officially launched in Hyderabad at a grand event held at ITC Kakatiya, drawing attention for both its global vision and its strong peace message. The song was unveiled by Dr. Sunil Senevi, who attended the event as the chief guest and praised the film’s larger purpose of promoting world peace through cinema.
During the event, Dr. Sunil Senevi appreciated director Satya Reddy for taking up a subject of global relevance and using the medium of film to spread a message of peace and harmony. He said the world is currently witnessing rising tensions and conflicts in different regions, and stressed that such situations underline the urgent need for peace-driven narratives. He specifically referred to ongoing international conflicts and noted that films like ‘King Buddha’ can help remind humanity of the importance of coexistence and non-violence.
The minister expressed happiness that the film has been initiated in the United States and is being shot across multiple Buddhist countries including Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Indonesia. He also extended full support from Sri Lanka for the film’s future shooting schedules, saying the project carries a spiritual and cultural significance that deserves international encouragement. According to him, King Buddha could become a unique landmark in world cinema because of the way it is being filmed across several Buddhist nations.
Reflecting on the devastating impact of war, Dr. Sunil Senevi spoke about the historical destruction caused by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and said the world must never allow such tragedies to repeat. He emphasized that humanity should reject the path of conflict and instead embrace peace, compassion, and understanding. He added that Buddhism continues to serve as a guiding force for global harmony and pointed out that Buddhist monks in different countries are already conducting peace walks that are receiving strong public support.
The minister also revealed that he had watched some portions of the film that were shot in Hollywood, and praised Satya Reddy for the visual scale and execution of the project. He described the effort as both cinematic and meaningful, saying that the film appears to be taking an important spiritual message to a global audience in a powerful way.
At the event, the King Buddha team honored Dr. Sunil Senevi with floral garlands and a traditional shawl as a mark of respect. The ceremony reflected the film’s spiritual and international theme, and the title song launch itself was presented as more than just a promotional event, but as part of a broader message centered on peace and humanity.
Director Satya Reddy said the project holds deep personal significance for him. He stated that after a 30-year journey in cinema, bringing the story of Gautama Buddha to a global audience through King Buddha is a dream come true. He added that the film is being designed on a massive international scale and aims to connect with audiences across countries, cultures, and languages.
Satya Reddy also announced that ‘King Buddha’ is being planned for a worldwide release in more than 100 languages in 2027, which, if achieved, would make it one of the most widely released Indian-origin films ever. He said the film is being made using advanced filmmaking technology and promised a visual experience unlike anything audiences have seen before in this genre.
Currently, the film’s important sequences based on the birth, childhood, and early education of Gautama Buddha are being shot in Nepal, including key locations such as the Himalayas, Lumbini, and Kathmandu. These locations are considered highly significant in Buddhist history, and the makers appear to be aiming for authenticity as well as scale in telling Buddha’s story on screen.
With its international production plan, spiritual foundation, and message of peace, ‘King Buddha – We Want World Peace’ is now positioning itself as a globally ambitious project that seeks to combine cinema, history, and philosophy into one large cinematic experience. The launch of the title song has now added fresh momentum to the film’s journey.
