Dacoit is one of the most awaited films in recent times and has been in the making for the last two years. Featuring Mrunal Thakur and Adivi Sesh in lead roles, the film has hit the screens and read our review here.
Story:
Hari (Adivi Sesh) escapes from the jail to only take revenge on his ex-girlfriend Saraswati (Mrunal Thakur) as she had ditched him big time. He wants to teach her a lesson and plans a heist to get her jailed. But all this flop big time due to a crazy twist in the tale. What is it and how Hari manages to come out of the mess he has created is the story of the film.
What about on-screen performances?
Adivi Sesh is a terrific performer, and he once again delivers with Dacoit. This time he plays a mass role and shines in it completely. He had good scope to showcase variations of pain and deceit and he showcased it well. He is good in all the action sequences of the film.
Mrunal Thakur gets a solid role and is very good. There are a lot of variations in her character and Mrunal is a perfect fit in the role.
Zarina Wahab gets a small role and is okay. Sunil plays a negative character and does not bring much to the table but he was okay.
Prakash Raj is the weakest of the cast and his role is not that great. It does not bring anything to the table and is misused in the setup.
Anurag Kashyap makes his Telugu debut with this film and he was okay. His character is not designed properly and fails to create any impact.
What about off-screen performances?
When it comes to Adivi Sesh films, they are always strong and the same happens in Dacoit. The production values and visuals are great.
But the real asset of the film is the BGM composed by Gyaani. It is mind blowing and elevates the film to another level altogether.
The writing is simple and the twists created are good. But the drama is missing in the setup, especially in the second half of the film.
There are key twists and the reasons for them needed to be established properly. But that did not happen in the direction by Shaniel Deo.
The second half has key moments that needed drama. More scenes and conversations between the lead pair is not clearly elevated.
There are few logical errors. The manner in which the cops investigate and chase the hero look a bit forced in the setup and do not create impact.
The climax twist and emotional ending is good but between all this, the needed emotions are missing in the film and especially in second half.
Dacoit is a film that has story and twists but the execution should have been a lot better. Things are taken for granted and this makes things a bit dull.
What’s Hot?
BGM
Key twists
Adivi Sesh performance
What’s Not?
Lack of drama
Weak characters
Logical issues
Verdict:
Overall, Dacoit is a romantic action drama that offers a few engaging twists. While the latter half feels slightly stretched and could have benefited from tighter narration, the film still manages to hold attention with its decent thrills. Adivi Sesh’s screen presence and following add to the appeal, making it a reasonably enjoyable watch—especially if approached with balanced expectations.
