“Reset the timeline by sending out a signal…” Capelight Pictures has debuted the full trailer for a Thai sci-fi movie called Project Genesis, also known as Taklee Genesis, made by filmmaker Chookiat Sakveerakul. After first debuting last year (first teaser here), this is finally getting a US release direct-to-VOD / Blu-ray starting in October – in time for spooky season. A time-travel adventure that takes place during the Cold War when a US military base in Thailand was testing the Taklee Genesis, a warp-speed teleporter even though it had not yet been fully developed. After the war, the Taklee Genesis was left behind in Thailand and was being illegally used by someone. A striking blend of practical effects, CGI spectacle, and emotional storytelling, Project Genesis cements Sakveerakul’s reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s most imaginative genre filmmakers. There’s dinosaurs, monsters, time travel, and much more in this! Starring Paula Taylor, Peter Corp Dyrendal, Wanarat Ratsameerat, and Nutthacha Jessica Padovan. It’s a breathtaking, high-concept journey that fuses time-travel science fiction with kaiju, dinosaurs, cavemen, and zombies—a bold cinematic mashup that spans over 7,000 years of history. This looks totally crazy! Reminds me of that other Thai CGI movie Rebirth: Home Sweet Home recently. It’s definitely worth a look if you’re a sci-fi geek. // Continue Reading ›
