A sudden and intense hailstorm lashed parts of Hyderabad, leaving stretches of the Outer Ring Road near Shamshabad blanketed under a thick layer of ice. The unusual weather event created near snow-like conditions, catching commuters off guard and bringing traffic to a standstill.
According to visuals circulating online, large hailstones—some reportedly the size of small marbles—pelted areas including Mutchamta, quickly covering the road surface. The accumulation of ice made driving extremely difficult, leading to long traffic jams and stranded vehicles along the ORR.
Motorists were seen halting their vehicles as visibility dropped and road grip worsened due to the icy layer. Many took to social media to share videos of the rare scene, comparing it to winter snowfall rather than typical summer weather in the region.
Authorities are yet to release an official advisory, but commuters have been urged to remain cautious and avoid non-essential travel in affected areas until conditions improve.
