The YSR Congress Party is making efforts to bring back leaders who left the party after the 2024 election defeat. YSRCP chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is preparing new political strategies while targeting the ruling coalition. At the same time, the party is quietly working to strengthen its organisation before the next elections.
Several senior leaders who once played key roles in YSRCP moved to other parties after the 2024 elections. Some joined coalition parties but now feel they have not received the political importance they expected. This has opened the door for possible returns.
One such leader is Prakasam district politician Aamanchi Krishna Mohan. Political sources say he is likely to rejoin YSRCP soon. Aamanchi has reportedly conveyed to the party leadership that he is willing to return if he is allowed to contest from the Chirala Assembly constituency in the next elections.
Recently, Aamanchi met former minister Ambati Rambabu, where the issue was discussed. Party leaders believe that Jagan may consider giving him responsibility in Chirala.
The Karanam family currently handles YSRCP affairs in Chirala but has not been very active. There are indications that Karanam Venkatesh may be moved to the Addanki constituency. This could create space for Aamanchi to return and lead the party in Chirala.
Aamanchi is currently in the Congress Party and recently appeared during AP Congress chief Y. S. Sharmila’s Chirala visit. However, sources say he is waiting for a clear assurance from Jagan before making a final decision.
Along with Aamanchi, two more senior leaders from the Chittoor, Nellore and Anantapur regions are also said to be exploring a return to YSRCP.
