The Government of Andhra Pradesh will sign a major agreement with Google tomorrow in New Delhi to build a 1 gigawatt hyperscale data center campus in Visakhapatnam. The project, worth nearly USD 10 billion, will be the foundation for “AI City Vizag,” a key part of India’s growing digital future.
The signing event will take place at Hotel Taj Mansingh, New Delhi, in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh. Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Ashwini Vaishnaw will also attend, along with top Google leaders including Thomas Kurian (CEO, Google Cloud), Bikash Koley, and Karan Bajwa.
This will be one of Google’s largest data center projects in Asia. The Vizag AI hub will bring together advanced AI infrastructure, green energy, and high-speed fiber networks. It will connect directly to Google’s global systems, helping India lead in AI-powered growth.
“Andhra Pradesh signs tomorrow what the future will remember — our 1 GW Google data center in Vizag. It is a transformative project for the future of Andhra Pradesh,” said IT Minister Nara Lokesh.
According to state estimates, the project will add ₹10,518 crore to Andhra Pradesh’s GSDP each year between 2028 and 2032 and create around 1.88 lakh jobs annually. It is also expected to boost productivity worth ₹9,553 crore every year through Google Cloud services.
The State Investment Promotion Board, led by Chief Minister Naidu, has cleared the project. The government will provide full support through single-window approvals, reliable utilities, renewable power, and ready-to-use infrastructure to make the project a success.
