The trade window for the 2026 season of IPL is open and running. Teams are actively moving to trade players before the big auction that comes up in December.
In this context, something interesting is being heard in connection with the Chennai Super Kings franchise as they are reportedly moving swiftly to grab hold of Sanju Samson.
According to the latest development, Chennai Super Kings will be trading Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals and in return, give Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to the Rajasthani franchise.
If this trade goes through, then it would be one of the major trades in the IPL and could very well be a long-term proposal made by Chennai Super Kings franchise.
On one hand, Sanju Samson has not been at his best in recent years in IPL and on the other we have Jadeja who has been a phenomenal player for Chennai for nearly decade now. The idea of Chennai trading Sanju Samson for Ravindra Jadeja is very unconvincing on paper.
This could perhaps be an indication of the fact that Chennai could be seeing Sanju Samson as the replacement for Dhoni, not just as a wicket-keeper batsmen, but also as a long-term captaincy material.
After the appointment of Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captain a couple of years ago, everyone thought he would be the long term captaincy choice. But with this latest move for Sanju Samson, it appears that Chennai management has other ideas. It is better if Chennai clarify on the captain choice before it gets too late.
This could be one of the major trade moves in IPL if at all it happens at the first place. More clarity will emerge in the next few days.
