OpenAI’s ChatGPT will soon enable users to make UPI payments. The company has partnered with RazorPay and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch Agnetic Payments on ChatGPT. The new pilot feature will facilitate UPI payments with just a single prompt.
In addition, it will also enable ordering groceries on Big Basket, from the user’s prompted list, and also provide the list of prices of all the products, to enable wise choice before ordering. The AI interface of ChatGPT will enable operating both services throughout it.
At present, it is being tested as a pilot project among a limited number of users.
The collaboration of RazorPay, NPCI and OpenAI is aimed at stepping towards AI-powered, conversational commerce in India. It will help in automating shopping and UPI transactions.
RazorPay will give the AI chatbot access to Axis Bank, Airtel Payments Bank , UPI Circle and UPI Reserve Pay to complete the online financial training transaction. Initially, Big Basket is the first quick-commerce platform that would be integrated into ChatGPT, to enable a complete AI-powered shopping experience. The user will be able to discover the products of his choice available on the online commerce platform and then place order through the chat interface.
The ChatGPT prompts like “Help me order ingredients for a Thai-style vegetable curry for 4 people from Bigbasket. On Inviting the requirements, the chatbot will provide users with the ingredients and pricing, apart from asking for permission to pay through RazorPay.
Though in a testing phase now, the feature raises concerns about users’ privacy as sensitive infirmation about financial transactions could lead to the risk of data breaches. Also, the user’s will be in a confusion over who should be held responsible in case of any aberration. User’s will need greater transparency and understanding to know about the entire AI-backed process.
