A major drug racket operating in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli area has been busted by the EAGLE team, leading to the arrest of two businessmen and a student in a focused operation. The accused have been identified as Murali Krishnam Raju, Chiranjeevi Varma and Hemanth Raju. During the raid, officials seized 15 grams of cocaine, exposing a well-organised network supplying drugs to high-profile clients in the city.
According to investigators, the accused sourced cocaine from Nigerian suppliers and distributed it to at least 15 prominent clients in Hyderabad. To avoid detection, the gang reportedly used innovative methods for delivery, including booking Rapido bike rides and packing the drugs in chocolate gift packs. This method helped them blend illegal consignments with normal deliveries and evade routine checks.
Police said the racket had been operating discreetly in and around the Gachibowli IT corridor, targeting affluent customers. The arrests were made following sustained surveillance and technical inputs, which helped the EAGLE team track the movement of the accused and identify their delivery patterns. Officials believe more people could be linked to the network, including local facilitators and overseas suppliers.
The investigation is ongoing to trace the full supply chain, identify all clients, and uncover the financial trail behind the drug trade. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking in Hyderabad and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in the procurement, transport or sale of narcotics.
