Nara Lokesh inaugurated a new Anna Canteen building in Duggirala under the Mangalagiri constituency, aiming to provide affordable meals to the public and strengthen welfare infrastructure in the region.
The Education and IT Minister reached Duggirala on Monday, where he received a warm welcome from leaders of the Telugu Desam Party, local residents, and party workers. Following the reception, Lokesh formally inaugurated the Anna Canteen by cutting the ribbon and unveiling the commemorative plaque set up at the site.
The newly constructed building for the canteen was developed with an investment of ₹61 lakh, ensuring better facilities for serving food to the public. Anna Canteens are designed to provide hygienic and affordable meals to people, particularly benefiting daily wage workers, the poor, and other economically weaker sections.
After inaugurating the facility, Lokesh interacted with staff members of Akshaya Patra Foundation and personally served meals to members of the public at the canteen. The gesture drew appreciation from the gathered residents, as the minister joined volunteers in distributing food to beneficiaries.
Officials said the new Anna Canteen building will help improve the quality of service and provide a convenient place for people to access nutritious meals at subsidized prices. The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen welfare services and support people in need across the constituency.
Several leaders and officials attended the inauguration event, including District Collector A. Thameem Ansariya, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Board member Tammishetti Janaki Devi, Guntur Parliamentary Telugu Desam Party General Secretary Pothineni Srinivasa Rao, and Duggirala Mandal TDP President Kesamaneni Anitha, along with other local leaders and residents.
