Lokesh Pushes for NVIDIA Smart Factory Pilot in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh met NVIDIA Vice President for Enterprise and Cloud Sales Raj Mir Puri in Santa Clara, urging the global tech giant to partner with the state on AI skill development, smart manufacturing, and future-tech infrastructure. Lokesh requested NVIDIA to launch a Smart Factory pilot project in AP using Omniverse and Isaac Sim for digital twins and AI-driven industrial optimisation. He also asked the company to support AI skill programmes for government officials, help design AI curricula, and collaborate with universities and R&D institutions to offer quantum simulators for students and researchers.
Lokesh highlighted that Andhra Pradesh already has strong infrastructure, policy support, and skilled manpower to host AI-driven industries. He appealed to NVIDIA to encourage its partner companies—such as Pegatron and OSAT/ATMP manufacturing units—to consider investments in the state. He also sought the integration of NVIDIA’s recently announced $850 million deep-tech fund with Andhra Pradesh–based startups for investment and mentoring. Lokesh further requested fast-tracking of the existing MoU between the AP government and NVIDIA.
Responding to the proposals, Raj Mir Puri said NVIDIA operates its largest R&D center outside the US in Bengaluru and is currently focused on AI, graphics, and networking. He noted that NVIDIA is partnering with major Indian enterprises, ISVs, and startups—including Tata Group and Reliance Jio—while also investing heavily in skill development through the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute and academic programs with IITs and IISc. He assured that Andhra Pradesh’s proposals would be discussed with the company’s senior leadership before taking a final decision. Senior Director Will Ramey also took part in the meeting.
NVIDIA, which generated $110 billion in annual revenue last year across data center, gaming, AI, and professional visualization segments, now stands as the world’s No.1 company with a market capitalization of $4.35 trillion.
