Lokesh Pushes for Salesforce GCC in Vizag

Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh met Salesforce Executive Vice President Ramesh Ragineni in San Francisco as part of his ongoing US tour, urging the global tech major to set up a Global Capability Center (GCC) and an R&D hub in Visakhapatnam. Lokesh said Vizag is rapidly emerging as a major data city under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, making it the right time for global companies to invest.
He noted that firms like Google, Reliance and Sify have already come forward with significant investments in data-center infrastructure, reflecting strong confidence in AP’s technology roadmap. Lokesh invited Salesforce to join this ecosystem and take advantage of the growing talent pool and policy support available in the state.
Salesforce EVP Ramesh Ragineni highlighted the company’s strong global footprint, with headquarters operating in New York, London, Tokyo, Sydney, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. He said Salesforce currently serves over 150,000 clients, including Fortune 500 companies, supported by a worldwide workforce of more than 70,000 employees. The company also runs major innovation and engineering centers in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, contributing to global product development.
Ragineni added that Salesforce is actively working with Indian IT giants, global system integrators and local startups to strengthen the innovation ecosystem. The company’s platforms are widely used in banking, retail, IT and major public-sector enterprises in India for digital transformation.
He assured Lokesh that the proposal to establish a Salesforce center in Andhra Pradesh will be discussed with the company’s global leadership team, and a decision will be taken after internal evaluation. Salesforce, driven by cloud-based CRM, data and AI subscription services, recently posted $34.5 billion in annual revenue and holds a market capitalization of around $250 billion, underlining its position as one of the world’s leading tech companies.
This high-level meeting is seen as a significant step toward attracting global tech investments to Andhra Pradesh and strengthening Vizag’s position as a future technology and data hub.
