Tollywood box office witnessed a change in fortunes in the last couple of months after going through a dull phase for several weeks until August due to lack of adequate number of big hits. In September, films like Little Hearts, Mirai, Kishkindhapuri and OG set the box office on fire and gave a new lease of life to Tollywood which has been reeling under flops. Continuing the success streak, Kantara Chapter 1, Dude and Baahubali: The Epic set the cash registers ringing in October.
The scene now shifts to the final phase with only two more months left in 2025. Before Akhanda 2 storms the box office, notable films like The Girl Friend, Jatadhara, Kaantha, 12A Railway Colony and Andhra King Taluka will test their luck this month. Though November is usually regarded as an unseason by trade circles, there are a handful of releases in the next four weeks.
Rashmika’s coming-of-age romantic drama The Girl Friend, which has been making positive waves after the hard-hitting trailer struck a chord with the audience, will headline this month’s releases. Sudheer Babu’s supernatural thriller Jatadhara which stars Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha will compete with The Girl Friend on November 7th.
A week later, in-form Dulquer Salmaan, who became a household name in Tollywood with the blockbuster success of Lucky Bhaskar will aim for another hit with his period thriller Kaantha. Allari Naresh, who return to his comedy genre, is looking to make a strong comeback with 12A Railway Colony. He will have no big competition when the film arrives in theatres on November 21st.
The most awaited film of the month would be Ram’s Andhra King Taluka. The film has been generating decent buzz as it is based on a fan-centric character which will reflect true emotions of ardent fans who are obsessed with their favourite stars.
All these films are carrying decent expectations and will eye to take advantage of the open ground at the box office.
