Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced in the State Assembly that the coalition government has generated a total of 6,28,347 employment and livelihood opportunities within the first 20 months of coming to power. Presenting a detailed statement in the Assembly, the Chief Minister explained how jobs were created across various sectors and highlighted the government’s focus on employment generation as a key priority.
According to Chandrababu, the coalition government has been working with a clear strategy to strengthen the economy while simultaneously expanding job opportunities for youth across the state. He said the employment opportunities came from multiple sectors including government recruitment, MSMEs, industrial investments, skill development initiatives and job fairs.
The Chief Minister stated that 30,607 government jobs have already been filled. These include recruitments through the Mega DSC for teachers and the appointment of police constables. Chandrababu noted that filling long-pending government vacancies was one of the major commitments made by the coalition government to unemployed youth in Andhra Pradesh.
A significant share of employment was generated through the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, which created 2,48,906 job opportunities. Chandrababu said MSMEs play a crucial role in strengthening the local economy and supporting livelihoods, especially in semi-urban and rural areas. The government has been encouraging small and medium enterprises through policy support, infrastructure and financial assistance.
Another major contributor to employment generation was the state’s skill development and job fair initiatives, which helped provide 1,46,627 employment opportunities. The Chief Minister said the government has been conducting job fairs regularly across constituencies and linking skilled youth with employers. Skill development programs have also been strengthened to ensure that young people are equipped with industry-ready skills.
The industrial sector contributed 95,174 jobs, reflecting the impact of new investments and industrial expansion in the state. Chandrababu said the government has been actively attracting domestic and global investments to Andhra Pradesh by improving infrastructure, streamlining approvals and promoting investor-friendly policies.
The food processing sector also emerged as a major employment generator, providing 64,035 job opportunities. Chandrababu emphasized that the state is focusing on strengthening food processing industries to support farmers while also creating jobs in rural areas.
In the IT and electronics sector, a total of 13,866 jobs were created during the period. The Chief Minister said the government is working to position Andhra Pradesh as a growing technology hub by encouraging IT companies, electronics manufacturing and digital innovation.
The tourism sector contributed 5,028 employment opportunities, with the government promoting tourism infrastructure and new projects to boost visitor numbers and create jobs in hospitality and allied sectors.
Chandrababu said the employment figures reflect the coalition government’s commitment to economic growth and youth empowerment. He added that the government will continue focusing on investment promotion, industrial expansion, skill development and entrepreneurship to create even more job opportunities in the coming years.
The Chief Minister also emphasized that sustainable employment generation remains one of the central pillars of the government’s development agenda, with special attention to both direct government recruitment and private sector job creation across Andhra Pradesh.
