A major step towards solving drinking water scarcity has been taken in Konidela village of Kurnool district. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has donated ₹50 lakh from his personal funds for the construction of a 90,000-litre overhead water tank in the village. The project aims to ensure safe and regular drinking water supply to nearly 2,000 residents who have been facing water shortages, especially during the summer season.
With limited groundwater and irregular water supply, villagers have long depended on tanker water and distant sources for their daily needs. The new overhead tank is expected to strengthen the local water distribution system and reduce the burden on families who struggle to access clean water. Officials said the project will be taken up on priority and completed at the earliest to ensure uninterrupted drinking water to households.
Local representatives welcomed the initiative and said the project would improve public health and living conditions in the village. Access to safe drinking water is expected to reduce water-borne diseases and improve overall hygiene in the area. The initiative is being seen as an important contribution to rural development in Kurnool district and a practical step towards improving basic infrastructure in villages. The Konidela water tank project is also expected to serve as a model for similar drinking water projects in other rural parts of Andhra Pradesh.
