Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to discuss key railway development projects in Andhra Pradesh, with special focus on the upgradation of Pithapuram Railway Station and the construction of a Road Over Bridge in the region.
During the meeting, Pawan Kalyan highlighted the importance of strengthening railway infrastructure to support both passenger convenience and regional growth. He requested that Pithapuram, a well-known spiritual and pilgrimage centre attracting devotees from across the country, be developed as a model station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He also urged the Railway Ministry to take up the proposed Road Over Bridge under the PM Gati Shakti programme to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion.
Sources said the discussions were held in a positive and constructive atmosphere. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw responded positively to the proposals and assured that all requests would be examined with due priority. He expressed the Centre’s commitment to enhancing rail infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh as part of the broader development vision of Indian Railways.
Pawan Kalyan later stated that Indian Railways is witnessing rapid transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with strong emphasis on modernization, passenger amenities, and regional connectivity. He thanked the Railway Minister for his encouraging response and support towards railway development in Kakinada district and other parts of the state.
The meeting is seen as an important step towards strengthening transport infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, especially in spiritually and economically significant regions like Pithapuram, which are expected to benefit from improved rail connectivity in the coming years.
