The makers of the much-awaited film Ustaad Bhagat Singh held a grand pre-release event in Hyderabad on Sunday evening, drawing a massive crowd of enthusiastic fans. The film marks the reunion of Power Star Pawan Kalyan and director Harish Shankar after their blockbuster Gabbar Singh. Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers, the film features Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna as the female leads. Music for the film is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, while the background score has been handled by S. Thaman.
With its teaser, trailer, and songs already receiving strong responses from audiences, expectations for the film have grown significantly. The team is preparing for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, coinciding with the Ugadi festival. The pre-release event held at Police Grounds in Hyderabad turned into a celebration as thousands of fans gathered to see Pawan Kalyan and the film’s team.
Speaking at the event, Pawan Kalyan greeted fans who attended the celebration and those watching the event live. He said cinema has always held a special place in his life, as it not only gave him livelihood but also the recognition that eventually allowed him to serve people in public life. He expressed his gratitude toward his producers and wished that audiences who come with excitement to watch his films leave theatres with happiness.
Pawan Kalyan emphasized that he has never focused on how much money a film earns at the box office. According to him, the most important thing is that the film should be good and entertain the audience. He also shared his belief that cinema should not be divided by language and that he views it as Indian cinema rather than Telugu or Tamil cinema. He added that it is a proud moment that the Telugu film industry has reached global recognition, including winning Oscars.
During his speech, Pawan Kalyan spoke about his admiration for Megastar Chiranjeevi, saying that for him there is only one hero and that is Chiranjeevi. He said that whenever he stands beside his elder brother, he forgets that he himself is a hero. He expressed happiness that Chiranjeevi watched the Ustaad Bhagat Singh trailer and shared his appreciation on social media, and he also thanked Ram Charan for tweeting about it.
Talking about the film’s journey, Pawan Kalyan said that Ustaad Bhagat Singh is the film he made with Harish Shankar after Gabbar Singh. Initially the team planned a different story, but later the story changed. The COVID pandemic also disrupted plans, and during that period he stepped into politics and took up public responsibilities. Despite these challenges, he said the team managed to complete the film in a short time without affecting his duties. According to him, the film was completed within about 40 to 45 days of shooting, with him working roughly five to six hours a day thanks to Harish Shankar’s careful planning.
He added that the film gave him confidence that he can continue acting in films even while balancing his responsibilities in public life. He also praised Mythri Movie Makers for delivering several successful films such as Pushpa, Janatha Garage, and Srimanthudu, crediting their success to their dedication and hard work.
Pawan Kalyan thanked the entire technical and creative team of the film, including lyricists Chandrabose, Bhaskarabhatla, and Kasarla Shyam, along with costume designer Neeta Lulla, choreographer Dinesh Master, stunt masters Ram–Lakshman, Nabakant, and Prithvi, writers Ramesh Reddy and Dasarath, editor Karthik Srinivas, art director Anand Sai, cinematographer Ayananka Bose, music director Devi Sri Prasad, and composer Thaman for the background score.
He also spoke about the cast, describing Sreeleela as a talented dancer and performer and saying that this film will be a memorable one in her career. He thanked Raashii Khanna for agreeing to do the film without even listening to the story because she wanted to act with him. He also acknowledged actors Parthiban and K. S. Ravikumar for their roles in the movie.
Pawan Kalyan credited director Harish Shankar as the main reason behind the film’s strong output. He described Harish Shankar as a filmmaker who represents the passion of fans and someone who made the film with great dedication to present him in a way that audiences enjoy. Calling him a talented writer and director, Pawan Kalyan said he hopes Ustaad Bhagat Singh achieves success on the scale of Gabbar Singh. He said the entire team worked extremely hard and he is eagerly waiting to show the film to audiences on March 19.
Director Harish Shankar also addressed the gathering and explained why the film took time to reach completion. He said the team initially planned a different story set in a college backdrop, but later decided to change the concept. The pandemic also slowed down the process. Harish Shankar said he takes responsibility for both the delay and the fast completion of the film, noting that once shooting began, the entire team worked with great dedication.
He praised producers Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar for supporting him throughout the journey and said they are dream producers for any filmmaker. According to him, they always provide more than what is required to make a film better. He revealed that a massive set was built for the song “Collar Ey Etthara,” making it one of the biggest sets ever constructed for a Mythri Movie Makers production.
Harish Shankar also said that while Pawan Kalyan is the hero on screen, Devi Sri Prasad is the hero behind the scenes for delivering outstanding music. He added that Thaman’s background score will also play an important role in elevating the film. He assured fans that they will get to see Pawan Kalyan’s dance in the movie and promised a memorable theatrical experience.
Actress Sreeleela said she learned many things from Harish Shankar’s dedication and thanked the producers for giving her the opportunity to be part of the film. She described Pawan Kalyan as not only a Power Star but also a People’s Star and said that working with him taught her valuable lessons about positivity and awareness about society.
Raashii Khanna shared that acting alongside Pawan Kalyan had been a dream since the beginning of her career and that Ustaad Bhagat Singh made that dream come true. She described him as a simple person who constantly thinks about people and said it was an honour to share screen space with him. She also praised Harish Shankar for his hard work and expressed confidence that the film will recreate the magic of Gabbar Singh.
Producer Naveen Yerneni said making a film with Pawan Kalyan had been a long-standing dream for their production house. Even after becoming Deputy Chief Minister and being busy with public service, Pawan Kalyan ensured the film was completed, which he said meant a lot to the team.
Producer Ravi Shankar said the film’s output has made them very confident about the result. He described Ustaad Bhagat Singh as a “super commercial entertainer” that will keep audiences engaged from start to finish.
The event, hosted by popular anchor Suma, was filled with energy and excitement as fans cheered for their favourite star. With massive expectations already building, the team hopes the film will deliver a grand festive treat when it releases in theatres on March 19.
