The makers of the much-awaited pan-India mythological action drama Nagabandham have unveiled a powerful new character poster featuring Fighter fame Rishabh Sawhney in a menacing avatar. Starring Virat Karrna in the lead and directed by Abhishek Nama, the film is gearing up for a grand theatrical release this summer, with its teaser scheduled to launch on the 15th of this month on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
Rishabh Sawhney is seen portraying the dreaded Afghan ruler Abdali, a historical figure known for his brutal invasions in India during the 18th century. Set against the backdrop of 1750, Nagabandham weaves a high-stakes narrative around Abdali’s ruthless campaigns, temple plunder, and his obsessive quest for wealth and power. The film places his character at the center of a dark, intense conflict tied to the mythical Naga Bandham, believed to be hidden in the Himalayan region.
The first-look poster presents a striking visual of Rishabh charging into battle across a stormy, snow-covered battlefield. Armed with a blood-stained battle axe, his fierce expression and commanding body language dominate the frame. A massive army follows him into combat, with war elephants, archers, and warriors raising green flags amid harsh winds, creating a grand and violent war canvas. The presence of wolves circling him adds to the aura of danger and doom, highlighting the character’s savage and unstoppable nature.
Director Abhishek Nama said Rishabh’s transformation into Abdali was intense and convincing, bringing depth and raw power to the role. According to the director, the performance captures the cruelty, ambition, and inner conflict of the historical figure in a way that feels authentic on screen. Rishabh Sawhney shared that playing Abdali was one of the most challenging roles of his career, and he aimed to portray the complexity of the character while staying true to the film’s dramatic vision.
Nagabandham stars Nabha Natesh and Iswarya Menon as the female leads, with Jagapathi Babu, Jayaprakash, Murali Sharma, and B.S. Avinash playing key supporting roles. The film boasts strong technical backing with Soundar Rajan S as the cinematographer, RC Pranav handling editing, and Ashok Kumar overseeing the large-scale production design. Produced by Kishore Annapapureddy and Nishitha Nagireddy, the film is now in the final stages of production and is moving steadily toward completion.
