The much-awaited biopic on former CPI MLA and respected activist Gummadi Narsaiah began its journey with a grand muhurtham ceremony held in Palvancha. Directed by Parameshwar Hivrale, the film features Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar in the lead role, portraying the life of a leader known for his simplicity, honesty and unwavering commitment to the poor. Narsaiah, who famously rode a bicycle to the Assembly, served the people of Illandu for two decades without seeking personal gain, earning admiration across political lines.
The launch event witnessed the presence of several political dignitaries, including Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Kavitha, and Nandini Mallu. Geetha Shivarajkumar clapped for the first shot, while Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy switched on the camera, formally kickstarting the film.
Speaking at the ceremony, director Parameshwar Hivrale said politics must be seen as a responsibility rather than a profession. He stated that Gummadi Narsaiah’s life reflects true public service and must be told through cinema to inspire future generations. He expressed gratitude to Shiva Rajkumar for taking up the challenging role and said bringing such a great story to the screen is a privilege.
Producer N. Suresh Reddy described Shiva Rajkumar as a “real hero with a big heart” and said the film’s journey starting in Palvancha, a place known for its social activism, holds symbolic significance. He hoped the movie would spark positive change in politics and public life.
Lead actor Shiva Rajkumar said he felt honored to portray a leader whose life mirrors the values taught by his own father. He shared that visiting Narsaiah’s home reminded him of his father’s simplicity and service-minded nature. Shiva Rajkumar also revealed that he is learning Telugu for the film and will dub for himself, promising audiences a heartfelt performance. He said the story would stand as an inspiration for political leaders and the younger generation.
Gummadi Narsaiah, humbled by the tribute, said the system needs change and that change must begin within individuals. He stated that he never saw himself as a great leader but only as an ordinary person dedicated to honesty and service. He hoped the film would highlight his beliefs rather than glorify him, and expressed happiness that Shiva Rajkumar is bringing his story to life.
With the first-look and promotional material already receiving strong appreciation, expectations around the biopic continue to grow. Shiva Rajkumar’s transformation as Gummadi Narsaiah has especially caught the attention of Telugu audiences, adding to the excitement surrounding the project.
