Ai generated article, credit to orginal website, March 29, 2026

In a major food safety crackdown, the Hyderabad City Police busted an illegal spoiled chicken supply operation in the city and arrested one person for allegedly storing and distributing unfit chicken to local food vendors. The raid has raised serious concerns over food hygiene and public health in Hyderabad.
Acting on credible information, the H-FAST team of Hyderabad City Police, along with Veterinary Officer Dr. K. Nagarjuna, carried out an inspection at the premises of M/s. SPR Chicken located near the Indian Oil Petrol Bunk at Zinkalavada, Bharath Nagar, close to Moosapet Village in Hyderabad. During the inspection, officials reportedly found a large quantity of spoiled frozen chicken being stored in highly unhygienic conditions.
According to the police, the spoiled meat was allegedly being supplied to local vendors for preparing food items meant for public consumption. This has triggered alarm among residents, as such illegal food practices pose a serious threat to consumer health and safety.
The police identified the arrested person as 66-year-old Suraj Pal, a businessman and resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kukatpally, Hyderabad. Officials said he was taken into custody in connection with the case.
During the raid, the authorities seized around 352 kilograms of frozen spoiled chicken, including wings, breast and rib portions, and livers. The seized stock was reportedly found to be unfit for human consumption.
Officials also observed several serious violations at the premises. The storage facility was found to be in poor hygienic condition, and the food handling practices reportedly failed to meet safety standards. In addition, the FSSAI license of the establishment had expired, making the operation even more questionable from a legal and regulatory standpoint.
After completing the inspection, the H-FAST team secured the spoiled chicken stock and handed over both the accused and the seized material to the Sanathnagar Police Station for further legal action. Police said a case is being processed as per law.
The operation was conducted by the Inspector of Police, H-FAST team, along with supporting staff and personnel from Sanathnagar Police Station. Hyderabad police officials said such special inspections and food safety enforcement drives will continue to protect public health and prevent unsafe food items from entering the market.
The incident has once again highlighted the importance of checking food quality, especially when purchasing chicken and meat products from local outlets or street food vendors. Authorities have advised the public to buy food items only from authorized and hygienic sources, avoid eating from unverified vendors, and immediately report any suspicious or unhygienic food-related activities to the concerned departments.
With food contamination becoming a growing concern in urban areas, this Hyderabad spoiled chicken case serves as a warning to both food sellers and consumers. Strict monitoring and public awareness will play a key role in ensuring safe food practices across the city.
