Tirumala Laddu Ghee Case: Pawan Kalyan Raises Alarming Claims

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Thursday made strong statements over the alleged use of adulterated ghee in the preparation of Tirumala Laddu prasadam, calling it an attack on Hindu faith and sentiments. Speaking at a media briefing held at Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s camp office, he said investigations have revealed that the ghee used for laddu preparation was not made from milk fat and that the Central Bureau of Investigation has not given any clean chit in the case.
Pawan Kalyan said reports submitted to the government indicated that the substance supplied as ghee did not match the quality and composition of real dairy ghee. He stated that the findings show the material used was not prepared from milk fat and that authorities are still examining what exactly went into the mixture. He added that earlier reports had pointed to the presence of vegetable oils and other non-dairy components, raising serious concerns over the sanctity of the sacred prasadam offered at Tirumala.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the issue was highly sensitive as it involved religious faith and sentiments of millions of devotees. He stressed that matters related to temples and religious practices must be handled with utmost responsibility and restraint. According to him, the government decided to bring the issue before the public only after careful thought, as remaining silent would have been a mistake in such a serious matter.
He further alleged that despite indications of adulteration coming to light earlier, the issue was not acted upon at the right time. He claimed that the ghee procurement process during the previous government’s tenure raised several questions, including the pricing and quality of the product supplied. He pointed out that purchasing ghee at unusually low prices compared to market rates itself created doubts about its purity and authenticity.
Pawan Kalyan also said that laddus prepared with the same adulterated ghee were sent for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir idol consecration event, which, according to him, hurt the sentiments of devotees across the country. He described the matter as a serious blow to Hindu faith and said those responsible must apologise to Lord Venkateswara and face strict action. He asserted that the coalition government would not spare anyone found guilty in the adulterated ghee case.
Highlighting past incidents, the Deputy Chief Minister alleged that several attacks and incidents related to temples took place between 2019 and 2024 and that they were not dealt with seriously at the time. He said the present government is committed to protecting temples, traditions, and religious values, and will not compromise on issues related to faith.
He clarified that the case was not about targeting any religion but about protecting Hindu religious practices and ensuring accountability in the management of temple offerings. He said the matter has reached the Supreme Court and that the government wants a thorough and transparent investigation. Ministers Nara Lokesh, Payyavula Keshav, Satya Kumar Yadav, Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, K. Parthasarathy, and other leaders were present at the media briefing. The Tirumala laddu ghee controversy continues to draw national attention, with devotees and the public demanding clarity and strict action against those responsible.
