As the release of Ustaad Bhagat Singh approaches, actress Raashii Khanna said the film will offer a wholesome theatrical experience for audiences and families. Starring Pawan Kalyan in the lead and directed by Harish Shankar, the film is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers. After the strong response to the teaser, trailer and songs, expectations for the movie have risen significantly. The film is set to hit theatres on March 19 during the Ugadi festival.
During a media interaction held today, Raashii Khanna spoke about her role in the film, her experience working with Pawan Kalyan and director Harish Shankar, and what audiences can expect from the movie.
The actress revealed that she immediately agreed to do the film the moment she heard it was a Pawan Kalyan project. She said she did not even wait to hear the story before saying yes, because acting with the Power Star had always been one of her dreams. Raashii explained that since her early days in the industry she had heard a lot about the huge craze surrounding Pawan Kalyan and the phenomenon known as “Pawanism”. With Ustaad Bhagat Singh, she said that dream finally became a reality.
Talking about her character, Raashii Khanna said she plays a role named Shloka in the film. She described Shloka as a modern and confident young woman and added that every character in the film has its own importance. According to her, the role comes with strong characterization and interesting variations. She also mentioned that she has a mass dance number in the film and enjoyed shooting for it because dancing is something she loves.
Sharing her experience working with Pawan Kalyan, Raashii said he is a very simple and thoughtful person. She noted that he is often seen reading books on the sets and carries a calm personality that stands out. She recalled that on the first day of the shoot he asked her whether she had always wanted to become an actress. Raashii replied that her childhood ambition was actually to become an IAS officer.
She said Pawan Kalyan speaks very little, but every word he says has value. According to her, he encouraged her to think about public service and always speaks about the welfare of people. Raashii added that she learned a lot about humanity from him during the shoot.
The actress also shared her experience of witnessing the massive fan following of Pawan Kalyan during one of the film’s promotional events. She said when she looked at the crowd from the stage, it felt as if the fans were worshipping him like a god, highlighting the immense admiration people have for the star.
Speaking about director Harish Shankar, Raashii Khanna praised his dedication and understanding of mass audiences. She said the director clearly knows the pulse of the audience and works tirelessly to deliver entertainment. According to her, a schedule that normally takes around 120 days was completed in just about 40 days due to his strong planning and commitment.
Raashii also revealed that Harish Shankar sometimes wrote punch dialogues directly on the sets during the shoot. She said his patience and passion for cinema inspired her and she learned many things from observing his working style.
When asked about sharing screen space with another heroine, Sreeleela, Raashii clarified that both characters have their own space in the story. She explained that the two characters do not have scenes together, but each role has its own importance and contributes to the narrative.
Regarding scheduling challenges, Raashii said she was informed earlier that working according to Pawan Kalyan’s dates could sometimes be unpredictable. She agreed to adjust her schedule and said there were occasions when the team worked nearly 24 hours continuously to complete important scenes.
She also appreciated the producers of Mythri Movie Makers, saying they are very passionate about filmmaking and never compromise on production quality. According to her, the producers give complete freedom to the director and create a very positive working environment. Raashii said she hopes to work with the banner again in the future.
Raashii Khanna concluded by saying that Ustaad Bhagat Singh will be a highly entertaining film that families can watch together in theatres. She expressed confidence that audiences will especially enjoy the film during the Ugadi festive season and said fans will get to witness the vintage energy and charisma of Pawan Kalyan once again on the big screen.
