With Hollywood film Avatar: Fire and Ash releasing on December 19th, several small and medium budget films in Indian cinema have been pushed. Indian cinema has made ways for a smooth and grand release for Avatar: Fire and Ash. But the film could not live up to the expectations. The film opened on a below average note and word of mouth is mixed. Avatar: Fire and Ash struggled to witness growth on Saturday and the Sunday holiday too could not help the film.
On the whole, Avatar: Fire and Ash under performed at the Indian box-office. Bollywood film Dhurandhar has shown a clear domination and witnessed huge growth over the weekend. The third weekend numbers for Dhurandhar are just sensational and the film witnessed packed houses and registered new records. The film is expected to continue its dream run in the coming days as there are Christmas and New Year holidays. Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 witnessed minor growth on Saturday and Sunday but this is not enough to reach the breakeven mark. Telugu film Gurram Paapi Reddy is the only release for the weekend and the film is heading towards a disaster. This weekend also belongs to Dhurandhar.
