The South Indian Film Producers Association (SIFPA) held its second official meeting in Hyderabad on Saturday, bringing together major producer councils and guild representatives from the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada film industries. The gathering focused on several pressing issues currently impacting the South Indian cinema ecosystem.
Representatives from various producers’ bodies discussed rising production costs, challenges in theatrical exhibition, OTT release window strategies, workforce coordination, and the growing concerns around film financing and sustainability. The meeting also highlighted the need for stronger collaboration between all South Indian film industries to ensure long-term stability and collective growth.
SIFPA members stressed the importance of building a more transparent and structured system that benefits not only producers, but also distributors, exhibitors, and buyers of film rights. The association reiterated its commitment to creating a unified platform that can address industry-wide concerns through coordinated efforts and policy discussions.
Industry stakeholders also exchanged views on strengthening engagement between different sectors of cinema and adopting common approaches for key operational and business-related matters.
