Actor Vishal says his long-cherished dream of becoming a director has finally come true with Makutam, the 99th production of the Super Good Films banner. The team recently launched the film’s second single, Nachchaake Vachera, and the event turned into an emotional celebration, with the cast and crew expressing confidence in the film’s success.
Produced by the late RB Choudary under Super Good Films, Makutam stars Vishal in the lead, alongside Anjali and Dushara Vijayan. The film’s teaser and first single, The Rise of Linga, received a positive response, raising expectations ahead of its release.
Addressing the gathering, Vishal said he was thrilled to meet Telugu audiences not only as an actor but also as a director for the first time. He revealed that his desire to direct began after watching Shiva, and Makutam has finally fulfilled that dream. He also remembered the late RB Choudary with gratitude, saying it was an honour to be entrusted with directing the banner’s 99th film after unexpected circumstances led him to take charge of the project.
Vishal shared that he devoted the last year entirely to Makutam, putting aside his personal life to ensure the film was made the way he envisioned. He thanked Sai Dhanshika for her constant support throughout the journey and jokingly said composer GV Prakash Kumar took a “risk” by making him sing The Rise of Linga. He also praised singer Prabha, expressing confidence that Nachchaake Vachera would be loved by audiences.
Calling Makutam his most heartfelt project, Vishal thanked every technician and artist who stood by him during his directorial debut. He said he had applied everything he learned from the many filmmakers he worked with over the years and hoped audiences would appreciate the effort after watching the film. He also credited his father, GK Reddy, for encouraging the Telugu release of Pandem Kodi, which helped him build a strong connection with Telugu audiences. Vishal further acknowledged the inspiration he received from Arjun and Ram Gopal Varma during his career.
Actress Anjali said she was happy to reunite with Vishal after Madha Gaja Raja, adding that this time she witnessed a new side of him as a director. She praised his dedication and said he had presented her role in a powerful manner. Wishing him success in both acting and directing, she also described Nachchaake Vachera as one of her favourite songs from the album and expressed confidence that both the song and the film would become major successes.
Actor Jithan Ramesh described Vishal as family and appreciated the commitment he showed while handling multiple responsibilities on the film. He also expressed pride in Super Good Films’ 99th production and said the family intends to continue the banner’s legacy well beyond its milestone 100th film.
Actor Ajay recalled working with Vishal nearly two decades ago in Bhayya and said he was eager to see him as a director. He praised Vishal’s clarity on set and said he believes Makutam will offer audiences something special.
Actress Jhansi thanked Vishal for introducing her to Tamil cinema and said her character in Makutam is unlike anything she has played before. She also spoke about her positive experience working with Anjali and wished the entire team success.
Singer Prabha expressed her gratitude to Vishal and GV Prakash Kumar for giving her the opportunity to sing Nachchaake Vachera. She said that although she had previously sung for independent albums, this marks her first song in a feature film, making the experience especially memorable.
With Vishal making his directorial debut and the film carrying the legacy of Super Good Films’ 99th production, Makutam has generated strong interest among movie lovers. The makers are confident that the film and its music will continue to build excitement in the days ahead.
