Vijay’s Jana Nayagan has completed yet another round of certification with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). After receiving an ‘A’ certificate last week, the makers have now obtained a revised certificate following a few additional modifications suggested by the Board. With the re-certification process completed, the film has finally crossed its biggest hurdle after a wait of nearly seven months. 41 seconds extra footage has been added and the final runtime of the film reached 3 hours 3 minutes 52 seconds.
The film was originally submitted for certification in December 2025, but objections over certain political references and a few scenes resulted in repeated delays. The producers approached the courts seeking relief, while the film was referred to the Revising Committee, stretching the censor process for several months. In the end, the makers agreed to multiple edits before securing clearance. The troubles did not end with the censor issue. During the delay, portions of the film and later a high-definition copy surfaced on piracy platforms, causing a huge setback to the producers.
With the re-certification now completed, the team is expected to lock a fresh release date shortly. Trade circles indicate that July 24 remains the most likely option, though an official announcement is awaited from KVN Productions. H Vinoth is the director of Jana Nayagan and Anirudh is the music composer.
