The Nandamuri family has launched the Nandamuri Basava Tarakam NTR Charitable Trust on the centenary birth anniversary of Smt. Nandamuri Basava Tarakam, wife of legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR). The Trust was inaugurated in Hyderabad with a commitment to carry forward the values of compassion, service, and social welfare associated with the iconic couple.

The inaugural programme was held near the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital, where members of the Nandamuri family paid floral tributes to Smt. Basava Tarakam. As its first service initiative, the Trust organised an Annadanam (community meal), while fruits were also distributed to elderly women at Grandma Home.
The newly formed Trust will be headed by Nandamuri Mohana Krishna as Chairman, Nandamuri Mohana Roopa as Managing Trustee, and Nandamuri Seemanthini and Tummala Prasanna Kumar as Trustees.
Speaking at the launch, Nandamuri Mohana Krishna said the Trust was established as a tribute to his mother on her 100th birth anniversary. He remembered Smt. Basava Tarakam as the pillar of the Nandamuri family, saying she stood beside NTR throughout his journey in cinema and public life while taking complete responsibility for raising the family with love, sacrifice, and dedication.
He said the Trust has begun its journey with service activities such as fruit distribution and Annadanam and will gradually expand its work in the fields of healthcare, education, and welfare for underprivileged communities. He added that the organisation aims to identify people in genuine need and extend meaningful support, while seeking the blessings of NTR and Smt. Basava Tarakam and the encouragement of the public.
Managing Trustee Nandamuri Mohana Roopa described the launch as a proud and emotional moment for the family. She said the Trust was created in memory of her grandmother, whose dedication and sacrifices played a crucial role in supporting NTR during his illustrious career and public service. She announced that the Trust will focus on educational scholarships, healthcare assistance, and welfare programmes for economically weaker sections, while inviting public participation to strengthen its initiatives.
Trustee Nandamuri Seemanthini expressed happiness that the Trust was inaugurated on Smt. Basava Tarakam’s centenary birth anniversary. She said beginning the organisation’s journey with an Annadanam programme reflected the values of compassion and service that the revered couple stood for.
Trustee Tummala Prasanna Kumar recalled Smt. Basava Tarakam’s significant contribution to the Nandamuri family, saying she managed family responsibilities with remarkable strength while NTR remained dedicated to cinema and public service. He also highlighted NTR’s lifelong commitment to helping the underprivileged and said the Trust would continue those ideals through humanitarian initiatives focused on education, healthcare, community welfare, and social service.
With its launch, the Nandamuri Basava Tarakam NTR Charitable Trust aims to build on the legacy of NTR and Smt. Basava Tarakam by supporting meaningful social initiatives that benefit deserving sections of society in the years to come.
