Objection My Lord is the latest Telugu courtroom drama, which is now streaming on ZEE5. Story:
Objection My Lord revolves around Parashuram (Srikanth), a talented lawyer who walks away from courtroom practice after a major setback in his career. One day, a distraught father named Narayana, unable to find justice for his missing daughter Sameera, takes his life on the court premises. Shocked by the incident, Parashuram decides to reopen the case and fight for justice. But standing against him is the influential lawyer Vishwanath (Mukesh Rishi). Well, the rest of the story is how Parashuram handles this controversial case.
What about on-screen performances?
Srikanth is undoubtedly the backbone of the series. He delivers a sincere performance as a lawyer battling personal and professional struggles.
His emotional scenes are handled well, and he carries most of the series on his shoulders. However, Srikanth does well in the courtroom scenes and takes on Mukesh Rishi with ease. These scenes are a major asset to the series.
After a very long gap, Mukesh Rishi gets a good role and plays the opposing lawyer superbly. While he brings his usual screen presence, the character lacks depth as the series crosses the mid-episode mark. Due to the convenient writing, his role becomes dull.
Noted actress Ananya Sharma does a neat job as Vedha and adds energy to the proceedings. She is seen with Srikanth for the most part and does her supporting role quite well.
Snehal Kamath, who appears in a crucial role as Sameera, performs well in the emotional portions. Whatever is given to her, the young actress holds on to it and gives a settled performance.
Noted character actor Sameer also gets a neat role and is okay. Gemini Suresh and the rest of the supporting cast do what is required from them.
What about off-screen talents?
Director Santosh Ayyappan chooses a straightforward approach for the series and keeps the narrative focused on the investigation and courtroom proceedings for the most part.
The show starts on a very impressive note and does not take sides, and unleashes characters and conflict in a very engaging manner. However, as the show gets to the fourth episode, it starts losing steam.
The investigation stretches for too long, and several episodes feel repetitive. What should have been an intense courtroom thriller turns into a slow-moving drama.
Arun Chiluveru’s background score is effective in key moments and adds some tension to the proceedings. The production values are decent, while the cinematography and editing are strictly okay and suit the OTT setup.
The premise of Objection My Lord is intriguing. A father’s suicide, a missing girl, and a lawyer returning to court create enough curiosity initially. But the drama in the courtroom episodes is missing. More intense dialogues and drama would have made things even better.
The mystery surrounding Sameera is built up effectively, but the emotional impact is not strong enough when the truth is revealed. This aspect should have been taken care of even more.
While the writing keeps the story moving, it never reaches the level of a gripping legal thriller. The absence of memorable highs and shocking revelations prevents the series from becoming truly engaging.
