Acclaimed filmmaker Deva Katta has unveiled his next presentation, ‘Jo Jo’, a rustic romantic comedy that promises a refreshing departure from his signature serious storytelling. Set in the diamond fields of Jonnagiri, the film is written and directed by Kiran Jay Kumar, known for Mayasabha, and blends romance, humor, ambition, and adventure into an unconventional rural entertainer.
The story revolves around two penniless dreamers and a fearless young woman who embark on a quest to find a life-changing diamond. What begins as a desperate search for fortune soon spirals into a series of unexpected events filled with romance, hilarious mishaps, greed, betrayal, and danger. Set against the backdrop of the drought-hit diamond fields, the film aims to deliver an earthy and entertaining take on chasing dreams against all odds.
The announcement poster reflects the film’s rustic setting and quirky tone, while the tagline, “హెచ్చరిక: మనోభావాల బ్యాచ్ దూరంగా ఉండండి!”, hints at its unapologetically bold comic style. The makers suggest that Jo Jo will present romance and comedy with an unfiltered approach that stands apart from conventional commercial entertainers.
The film is produced by Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni under the Vijayam banner. Kiran Jay Kumar has written the story, screenplay, and dialogues, besides directing the film. Krishna Kamal and Maahi Sri play the lead roles as Seenu and Supraja, while the supporting cast includes Phanindra Devarapalli, Prabhavathi, Mahaboob Basha, Satish Devatte Tanjore, Puduru Sharath Babu, and Makarand Deshpande.
On the technical front, Rohith Kumar serves as the cinematographer, Mahesh Shankar composes the music, and Madhav Kumar Gullapalli handles editing. The lyrics are penned by Rehman, Srinivas Mouli, and Ramachandra.
Interestingly, Deva Katta, Kiran Jay Kumar, and producer Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni previously collaborated on the political drama Mayasabha: Rise of the Titans. With Jo Jo, the trio reunites for a completely different genre, making the project one of the more intriguing upcoming Telugu films. The combination of a rural setting, an unusual diamond-hunt premise, and a comedy-driven narrative gives the film a distinctive identity as it begins its promotional journey.
