Suriya’s latest family drama Vishwanath & Sons, directed by Venky Atluri, has made a promising start at the box office. Released on Friday, the film received a positive response from audiences, helping it register solid opening-day collections across India and overseas.
According to early trade estimates from Sacnilk, the film earned around ₹15.15 crore net and ₹17.51 crore gross in India on its opening day. Worldwide, the movie collected approximately ₹27.51 crore gross, giving the family entertainer a strong launch.
The film opened with more than 5,000 shows globally, while over 4,300 shows were screened across India. Occupancy remained healthy throughout the day, with the Telugu version recording around 46% occupancy, compared to over 40% for the Tamil version.
In terms of language-wise collections, the Tamil version contributed the highest share, collecting nearly ₹9.15 crore net from around 2,679 shows. The Telugu version followed with an estimated ₹6 crore net from approximately 1,682 shows. Interestingly, despite earning less overall, the Telugu version registered better occupancy, indicating stronger audience interest in the Telugu states.
Vishwanath & Sons features Suriya as Sanjay Vishwanath, an international pistol shooter whose life takes an emotional turn following a family crisis. Mamitha Baiju plays the female lead, while Raveena Tandon and Radhika Sarathkumar appear in pivotal roles.
Blending family emotions, comedy, romance and drama, director Venky Atluri has presented Suriya in a lighter and entertaining role. With positive word-of-mouth and encouraging opening-day numbers, the film is expected to witness stronger collections over the weekend if the momentum continues.
