Aamir Khan is in talks to join the Race franchise. The actor has reportedly liked the script of the proposed Race reboot and is now involved in the writing process. Sidharth Malhotra and Tiger Shroff have also heard the script and are said to be interested in the project. The film is being planned by producer Ramesh Taurani, who is looking to take the franchise in a new direction. The latest report says Aamir is working closely with the writers before taking a final call. The project is still in the early stages and the casting is yet to be officially confirmed.
The Race franchise began with Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. The first two films were directed by Abbas-Mustan, while the third instalment, Race 3, featured Salman Khan and was directed by Remo D’Souza. After the third film, Taurani decided to reboot the franchise. Saif Ali Khan was earlier confirmed to return for Race 4, with Sidharth Malhotra also in discussions. Taurani had said that the basic idea was to bring back the franchise with a fresh cast and a new approach.
The latest development now changes the discussion around the project, with Aamir Khan being considered for the reboot. The report also says Vijay Krishna Acharya will direct the film. He previously directed Dhoom 3 with Aamir and has worked with the actor on Tashan as a writer. Aamir currently has several projects in discussion, including Lalkaara and 3 Idiots 2.
