Melbourne, Australia: Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT, Electronics and Education, Nara Lokesh, met Bijal Sejpal, Chief Operating Officer of Bupa Asia Pacific, and Dinesh Kanteti, Head of Enterprise Intelligence, during his ongoing Australia tour on Thursday.
In the meeting, Lokesh invited Bupa to explore opportunities to establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Visakhapatnam, highlighting the city’s rapid growth as a major hub for IT, data centres, and digital innovation. He also urged Bupa to collaborate with the Andhra Pradesh government to strengthen rural digital healthcare services across the state.
Minister Lokesh emphasized that Andhra Pradesh is emerging as one of India’s most dynamic investment destinations, offering world-class infrastructure, skilled talent, and business-friendly policies.
Responding to the proposal, Bupa COO Bijal Sejpal appreciated Andhra Pradesh’s progressive vision. She explained that Bupa, headquartered in London, serves over 38 million customers across 190 countries. The company operates in areas such as health insurance, digital health solutions, and senior care homes in the UK, Australia, and Spain.
Sejpal noted that Bupa already has a strong presence in Australia, Hong Kong, and other emerging markets, and assured that the company would discuss Andhra Pradesh’s proposals with senior leadership to arrive at a positive decision soon.
This meeting marked another milestone in Lokesh’s Australia tour, focused on attracting global investments and partnerships to boost Andhra Pradesh’s IT, healthcare, and innovation ecosystem.
