A major accident was narrowly avoided on NH-44 near Macharam in Jadcherla mandal, Mahabubnagar district, when a private bus belonging to Jagan Travels rammed into an acid tanker. The crash caused thick smoke to spread rapidly around the area because the tanker was carrying hydrofluoric acid, a highly dangerous chemical.
As the fumes began to fill the surroundings, passengers inside the bus remained calm and quickly escaped using the emergency exit. Thanks to their presence of mind, everyone managed to get out safely before the situation worsened.
Fire department teams rushed to the accident spot within minutes. They immediately began emptying the hydrofluoric acid from the tanker to prevent any further danger. Their quick response helped control the chemical risk and ensured the safety of people nearby.
The timely reaction of passengers and the prompt work of firefighters prevented what could have turned into a much bigger disaster on the busy national highway.
