In a major development for the makers of JanaNayagan, the Madras High Court has directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to issue the censor certificate for the film without further delay. Following the court’s order, the film will receive a “U/A” certificate, effectively clearing a key hurdle that had stalled its release plans.
The court’s directive brings much-needed relief to the production team, as certification issues had created uncertainty around the film’s theatrical prospects. With the legal clearance now in place, JanaNayagan is officially eligible for public exhibition, allowing the makers to move ahead with release preparations.
However, industry sources indicate that the immediate challenge now lies in finalising a suitable release date. Due to earlier delays, several overseas screens that were initially booked for JanaNayagan have reportedly been reassigned to other films. As a result, the producers are expected to carefully reassess overseas market availability to ensure a coordinated and effective global release.
Trade analysts believe the timing of the release will be crucial, especially in international markets where scheduling and screen availability play a significant role in box office performance. With censor clearance secured, all eyes are now on the makers’ next move as they work towards locking a release date that aligns with both domestic and overseas exhibition strategies.
