Sydney, Australia – Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, met New South Wales (NSW) Premier Chris Minns on the third day of his Australia tour. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Andhra Pradesh and New South Wales in innovation, technology, education, and industrial development.
During the discussion, Lokesh proposed setting up an “Andhra Pradesh–New South Wales Innovation & Industry Partnership” to boost collaboration in advanced manufacturing, startups, and green technologies. He also called for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both governments to promote joint efforts in innovation, trade, and skill development.
Lokesh emphasized the need to connect NSW innovation clusters with upcoming Innovation and Startup Hubs in Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Anantapur, through active exchange programs. He urged the NSW government to encourage companies working in renewable energy, meditech, agritech, and logistics to explore investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh’s industrial corridors.
Highlighting the state’s growing focus on technology, Lokesh invited NSW universities to collaborate with educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh on research and development (R&D) projects in clean tech, artificial intelligence (AI), and sustainable infrastructure.
He extended a formal invitation to Premier Chris Minns to send a business delegation led by an NSW Minister to attend the Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam. Lokesh also sought cooperation to include the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) in NSW’s Asia-Pacific trade programs and explore joint incubation initiatives through NSW innovation agencies and Ratan Tata Innovation Hubs in Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting was also attended by NSW Minister for Innovation, Science, and Technology Anoulack Chanthivong, marking a key step toward a strong Indo-Australian partnership in innovation and sustainable development.
