The OTT deals have seen a huge decline and all the digital players have slashed down the prices like never before. All the global films like Varanasi, Raaka and Toxic are looking for a bigger price deal but the OTT players are offering less than one-third of the quote made by the producers. As it is impossible to control the production costs and the remunerations at this time, the fate of recovery completely depends on the theatrical run.
At this time, the producers are left in a huge stress because of the decline in the digital deals. The big recovery happened because of the OTT deals and this has turned out to be a nightmare for the producers. The digital rights of several Telugu, Hindi films are unsold because of the big quote. There is a big difference between the quoted price and the offered deal. Shah Rukh Khan’s King is also yet to close the OTT deal. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambara and Prabhas’ Fauzi have to find a digital partner to finalize the release date. The digital players are shutting doors saying that the budgets for the year are closed. A big confusion and a financial stress is on the producers who are busy carving out the biggest films in India.
